We heard the hype about DabbaDrop revolutionising takeaways in London and had to try it for ourselves. Founded by two mums in 2018, the idea was born from the desire to create a better alternative to greasy traditional takeaways (and their wasteful plastic pile-ups). They've found some ingenious ways to take food delivery to the next level. Here are our top 5 reasons why DabbaDrop lives up to the hype.

1. Authentic Flavours, Shockingly Good Taste

When you roll the dice on one of the food apps out there, it's often drab and disappointing. But not here. We were blown away by the tastes, flavours and aromas of DabbaDrop's food.
Their rotating set menus take you on a journey across South Asian cuisine. Our particular favourite was the Kerala option with the fresh green daal and turmeric-infused squash garnished with dill and coconut. But all the dishes had that soulful, homemade warmth and comfort to them that's so rare these days.

We also love that the menu moves with what's in season. It's more work for them, but you can taste the quality of their ingredients - and it means there's always something new to enjoy!

2. Kind To The Environment & Plastic-Free

Here's where things get even more interesting. DabbaDrop have gone above and beyond to make their food delivery quite possibly the most eco-friendly in London.

For a start, they've set up a friendly team who delivers all their orders entirely by bike(!)

But maybe the biggest difference is that your food comes in reusable tiffin tins which are plastic-free. Once used, their team simply collects the empties in exchange for full ones on your next delivery, meaning nothing goes to waste. It's a clever way to get rid of the usual mountain of plastic boxes and allows you to enjoy your meals guilt-free.

Plus the tiffins come wrapped in a lovely brightly-coloured cloth (which definitely beats a greasy wet plastic bag).

We love that their team delivers by bike - a great idea that's good for the environment.
Delightful touches - your meal comes in reusable (and oven-ready) metal tiffin tins wrapped in colourful cloth.

3. The Treat Everyone Can Look Forward To

We've all been there. You agree with your partner or the family to get a takeaway...but that's where the agreements end and arguments begin! People squabbling over what's best or whose turn it is to choose can ruin the evening before it's even begun.

An unexpected upside we found from ordering DabbaDrop is that they make everything simple and straightforward. They've designed their set menus impeccably well to cater for the whole family. And they're vegetarian and vegan friendly too. With nothing to argue about, we could just kick back and enjoy a nice evening off having to cook.

One customer review summed it up perfectly by saying:

"you can just rely on the fact that the food will be delicious. It takes out the stress/family arguments of what to order. It’s brilliant!"

4. Healthy, High-Quality Ingredients

DabbaDrop pride themselves on their high-quality ingredients. Whereas most takeaways try their utmost to cut corners and scrimp on the good stuff, DabbaDrop go in the opposite direction and it's so refreshing.

When we looked closely, we were pleasantly surprised to find a variety of healthy veggies in their dishes. So afterwards we didn't have that heavy, bloated feeling of regret. This makes it a great option if you have kids and a guilt-free reason to have seconds without worrying!

On that note, they give you generous portions. We found there was plenty to have a feast of a dinner but also enough for lunch the next day 😊

5. Great Team That's On Hand To Help

Finally, DabbaDrop have multiple options to keep you happy. They have a website where you can place and manage your orders and if you have any issues, their team is always there to help.

Their delivery cyclists always seem to have a smile on their faces (maybe it's all the fresh air?!) and that helps to bring a smile to yours too.

We also loved supporting a local business and the entrepreneurs Renee and Anshu who've worked so hard for over five years to create something new and fresh.

Wrapping Up

DabbaDrop is quite possibly the future of takeaway. Not only is their food delicious and authentic, but it's also zero-waste, zero-guilt and plastic-free. With easy ordering options and a friendly bike-powered delivery team, they offer something no one else can. Maybe it's time to take a break from those takeaway apps and see what all the fuss is about.
